On February 13th, I’ll host my second annual Galentine’s event, Heartsong: A Galentine’s Soul Sing. This is a concert-style celebration uplifting women and femmes and honoring the divine feminine in us all. I’ll be joined by a handful of local musicians spanning various genres — from folk to R&B to inspired spoken word.
Heartsong is a fundraiser, and proceeds will benefit Rahab’s Sisters, a Portland-based nonprofit building community “through radical hospitality with women and gender-diverse individuals marginalized by poverty, houselessness, sex work, violence, and substance abuse.”
Not only do we anticipate our biggest audience yet — over 300 guests joining us online and in-person — but this will also be my largest collaborative endeavor, as I partner with local vendors, wellness providers, artists, healers, and makers to amplify the voices of women + femmes and bolster connections with organizations who support and serve women and femmes in marginalized communities.
Rahab’s Sisters builds community through radical hospitality with women and gender-diverse individuals marginalized by poverty, houselessness, sex work, violence and substance abuse.
Since 2003, they have centered their radical hospitality around community meals where trust and friendship can grow.
They believe community is a basic human need essential to well-being, and everyone deserves to feel they belong somewhere.
Rahab’s Sisters currently offers their services part-time out of their temporary space at Montavilla UMC ((home of this year’s Heartsong Galentine’s Soul Sing)), and they are raising funds and rooting into their vision for their very own space so they can offer their services full-time. Our event is helping them get that much closer to their dream and goal of a new space!

WHAT IS A SOUL SING?
Now more than ever there is a deep collective yearning for togetherness. We long for spaces where we can be together in community — to feel and heal, to grieve and celebrate. I know that when we sing together, in shared space, the healing — both individual and collective — is palpable — and it’s exponential. That is what a Soul Sing is all about. We gather to sing songs that nourish our souls—songs that leave us feeling restored, grounded, and deeply rooted in our interconnectedness. In this Galentine’s Soul Sing, we’ll tend to our souls through gentle breath-body movement with qigong + yoga, guided meditation, and a powerful interweaving of songs and spoken word that uplift and honor the complexities and nuances of being a woman/femme.
IS THIS A RELIGIOUS EVENT?
No. But it can be deeply spiritual if that’s what you’re there for. It can also just be a beautiful gathering of souls singing music to uplift and unite us in our human experience.
WHAT IS GALENTINE’S DAY?
What is Galentine’s Day, you ask? It’s only the BEST DAY OF THE YEAR! Galentine’s Day is a treasured holiday made popular by tv’s Parks & Rec that celebrates women's friendship. It really should be a national holiday.
I DON’T IDENTIFY AS A WOMAN OR FEMME—CAN I STILL ATTEND?
Absolutely! this is a space for EVERY BODY and soul to celebrate the divine feminine in us all.
I CAN’T ATTEND IN-PERSON. WILL THIS BE AVAILABLE VIA LIVE-STREAM?
Yes! When you book your ticket, be sure to select the ‘VIRTUAL’ option. You’ll be sent a link to our virtual event space within 24hrs of the event start time.
WILL AN ASL INTERPRETER BE PRESENT AT THIS EVENT?
Yes! There will be ASL interpreters at the live event and featured on our live-stream. Closed captioning will also be available via the live-stream.
IS THIS EVENT ADA ACCESSIBLE?
Yes! ADA parking is available in the parking lot, and event spaces and restrooms are at ground level or accessible via a lift inside the main entrance.
