mindfulness

You care about your people.

You know the status quo isn’t working anymore. Burnout seems to be around every corner, and if the pandemic taught us anything, it’s that there is no more “business as usual.”

There’s a better way to be and a better way to lead.

You see self-care as community care, and you want to cultivate wellness in your workplace.

Mindfulness offers tools for your team to manage stress on a daily level and generate more calm and ease throughout the year.

What to Expect

Guests in these 90-minute sessions arrive just as they are, no experience with meditation or mindfulness necessary. We begin by orienting to our bodies and to the space with gentle movement informed by the ancient traditions of yoga and qigong. Participants are invited to set an intention for our time together as I guide the group through a centering breath practice, which flows into my five pillars for mindfulness:

✦ Mindfulness of breath
✦ Mindfulness of body
✦ Mindfulness of thoughts
✦ The practice of RAIN (as taught by Tara Brach, PhD)
✦ Mindful voice for communication and self-care

Each of these pillars is expanded upon with accessible practices participants can use anytime, anywhere.

Our session includes time for individual reflection and journaling, group discussion, and facilitated planning for integration of new skills at an individual and organizational level.

We close our time together with my signature offering, a customized guided meditation including vibrational sound healing with crystal bowls, singing, peaceful instrumentation, and quietude.

Who is Well of Peace for?

I designed Well of Peace with nurses, counselors, teachers, activists, and caregivers in mind.
Those who take care of and hold healing space for others and who may not be afforded this same time and space for themselves.
Those who need to be able to show up grounded, sure, and connected to their higher Self at the drop of a hat.

And, yet, I am realizing more and more that this is all of us.
Leading with love in our own little pocket of the world.
Doing our best to show up fully, honestly, and rooted in the present moment.

So if this offering is speaking to you. If you are reading this and thinking to yourself, THIS is what I need. THIS is what my people need. Then let’s talk.

And if you have a vision for a wellness offering like this and would like to personalize it for your team, it would be my honor to weave a new experience for you and with you.

Praise for Well of Peace

“The most valuable part [of Well of Peace] was the intention and held space for my team. We never have the opportunity to just "be" together, our time together is always focused on clients, learning, business items, etc. So, to give them some time where we all could be focused mindfully together was so lovely. Since we are usually the ones holding space and facilitating experiences for others, it was powerful to turn the reins over to you. For my interns, it was also great to facilitate a time for them to really practice mindfulness. They do learning about interventions including mindfulness and are encouraged to practice what they preach, but I know they do not always have the space to do it in the way that we were able to focus on it last week. The music and voice pieces are especially unique and important […] it seemed to be really impactful for folks.”

FAQs

  • Mindfulness is a practice and way of being that involves being aware and present in the moment.

Mindfulness meditation often involves being seated in stillness and quietude, anchoring in the breath, and being with our thoughts and the experiences in our body, including physical and emotional sensations.

The pillars I teach—mindfulness of breath, body, thoughts, voice, and RAIN—guide participants of all experience levels through an accessible flow for body and mind that meets each individual where they are.

  • Mindfulness meditation and related practices tone the vagus nerve ((part of the parasympathetic nervous system)), which helps the body go from stress mode to rest mode. Stress doesn’t have to be a negative thing, but if it’s interrupting your sleep or affecting your mood, your work, and your relationships, then the tools I teach can help you regulate and ease these symptoms.

  • Whenever we gather in spaces together, whether in meetings, celebrations, or just out for coffee, we bring our whole selves and our lived experiences with us. And when we gather in healing and growth spaces, our whole selves are held in community. In the spirit of this understanding, I would encourage everyone to enter our time together with an open heart and mind, knowing they are invited to show up just as they are. No formal preparation is necessary ahead of time, although folks might wish to reflect on the questions: What am I bringing with me today? What do I need? What can I offer?

  • While there is a component of stillness and quietude to mindfulness meditation, we take our time to get there. Participants will be invited to practice mindful movement throughout our session, including walking meditation and gentle yoga and qigong. In a single session, seated quiet meditation will be short (up to 5 minutes at a time) and always guided. Participants are invited to listen to their body and move when they need to move.

  • Each participant may wish to have the following items for our time together:

    - Journal and writing utensil
    - Pillow, bolster, or cushion
    - Light blanket
    - Yoga mat

You may also wish to provide a chair for each participant, depending on the flow that we design for your team.

  • Participants should wear comfortable clothing that allows for easeful movement. Layers are recommended, as we’ll oscillate between movement and stillness, and temperatures may vary. Walking footwear for indoor and outdoor use recommended. Weather-appropriate attire also recommended for walking meditation, should the weather permit us to go outside.

  • I have many teachers to thank on my continuing journey as a mindfulness meditation practitioner and teacher. Recent studies include courses with Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield, Konda Mason, and Devin Berry. I am also grateful for the teachings of Sharon Salzberg and the late Thich Nhat Hanh. My spiritual practice also includes mentorship with spiritual director, Judi Paisley.

  • A plethora of resources exist online, and the options can feel overwhelming. The teachers I listed above can be a great start: Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield, Konda Mason, Devin Berry, Sharon Salzberg, and Thich Nhat Hanh (and Plum Village).

You may also wish to explore via an app. There are lots of great meditation apps out there, and I personally enjoy InsightTimer. You can even find talks and guided meditations from some of the above teachers on that app.

If you are interested in connecting with your local community, you can look up local insight meditation organizations. In Portland, we have Portland Insight Meditation Community. Many yoga studios also offer guided meditation and mindfulness-based practices.

If you are specifically interested in guided self-study, Thich Nhat Hanh’s book Making Space is a sweet little companion book for cultivating an at-home practice.

For online courses, you may wish to explore The Power of Awareness.

Your Guide

Hi, I’m audrey—mindful mama, song weaver, and holistic voice coach.

I hold space for healers, leaders, and nurturers through my offerings in mindfulness, reiki, sound healing, and retreats.

I teach tools for managing stress and avoiding burnout; tools for better sleep, mood, energy, and mental wellness.

My lived experience includes being a parent (currently in toddler land), a healer, a spiritual being, an entrepreneur, a professional musician, an educator, a co-founder of a nonprofit performing arts organization (that’s still going strong after 9 years!), and being a BIPOC + queer woman in America—to name a few. The mindfulness techniques I’ve learned have translated to every facet of my life, and I use them daily. I’ve experienced first-hand the shift from disconnection to awareness thanks to my meditation practice and the techniques that apply throughout the day, even when I’m not seated on my little cushion.

These lived experiences ripple out and inform the mindfulness practices I teach, which are rooted in my five pillars of mindfulness: breath, body, thoughts, RAIN, and voice. Holding space to learn and integrate mindfulness into our daily lives, to cultivate awareness, compassion, and Self-tending—this is my heartwork.

I’d love to learn more about your team, your heartwork, and how I might best support you. Let’s connect.
