ABOUT ST. JOHNS WOMEN'S CHOIR
St. Johns Women’s Choir is a yearlong vocal ensemble dedicated to providing a safe and empowering musical experience for women who love to sing. The ensemble, directed by Audrey Voon, is open to women ages 16 yrs+. Emphasis is placed on creating beautiful music and building strong and lasting bonds with other female singers in the community. Through gently structured rehearsals, singers and conductor collaborate to create art through song. Registration for this ensemble includes a featured spot in Cathedral Park Performing Arts Collective’s annual Roots-n-Harmony Benefit Show May 4, each end-of-term showcase on December 8, March March 16, and June 8, and other performance opportunities in the community.
A singer in St. Johns Women’s Choir will:
-Be engaged with her community through ensemble and song.
-Perform beautiful and compelling music.
-Learn works by contemporary female artists across genres.
-Participate in collaborative processes.
-Improve her music literacy and musical development.
-Find healing through ensemble and song.
ABOUT THE WELCOME BACK POTLUCK + REHEARSAL
St. Johns Women's Choir has our first rehearsal on September 26 will be from 6:00-9:00 pm (earlier start time than usual) and will include a potluck dinner. Prospective singers who are serious about joining our group are invited to join us for this first welcome back potluck & rehearsal.
All singers will meet with the director individually to determine vocal range and best suited voice part (i.e. alto 1, alto 2, soprano 1, or soprano 2). This is not an audition. It is purely a chance for Audrey to get to hear your voice and affirm or guide you in finding the most comfortable part for you to sing.
If, for some reason, you're not able to make it to the welcome back potluck & rehearsal, please contact Audrey (audrey@cathedralparkarts.org) to arrange a time when you can meet so she can hear your voice prior to September 26.
